Wavemetrics
Analytics for independent musicians with precise numbers, not flashy dashboards
Context
Analytics for independent musicians and small labels: it pulls Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and TikTok data onto one screen. The target user is an artist with 5-50k monthly listeners who runs their own career and won't scroll four dashboards every morning. Big services are overloaded and expensive; the platforms' own panels each show only themselves. The product had to sit in between: calm and to the point.
The solution
A dark palette with a single muted accent instead of six colourful charts — it reads as an engineering tool, not one more overloaded dashboard (artists often work at night). The main screen shows three numbers that changed over the week and a 14-day forecast: competitors show what happened, this shows what will. The next-release call is made on the trend, not the history.
The outcome
HTML/CSS, a little JS, no heavy animation — it loads fast and explains itself fast; numbers set in monospace so the change (12,403 → 14,827) reads instantly. One screen instead of four, a forecast instead of history: the artist opens it in the morning, sees "here's what changed and why it matters", and closes it in a minute.
